Re: Oil filter on 282

THANKS for the quick response and info JD!! I would guess someone did not want to deal with this at one point, and bypassed. Not sure how critical it is now (if and when I rebuild, that's another story) but I think I may want to put one in there anyway, can't hurt even if it is not super effective! ...

Oil filter on 282

Planning winter maintenance tasks...My engine is not equipped with an oil filter; do I need to do anything internally to retrofit and is it worthwhile on an older engine that is driven approx. 750 miles a year, with an annual oil change? If I am not mistaken these are not "full flow" systems yet? I ...

Re: The next issue of The Packard Cormorant magazine...

Nice job on the latest Cormorant, I just posted some comments in the general section of the forum and saw this, and probably should have posted here, but wanted to say thanks and great job! (and I am still not yet done with all of the articles!)

The Cormorant

Just a quick note on the latest Cormorant. I really liked the features on cars with the "human interest factor" - especially the recollections of the use of Classic Packards in the early and mid-fifites. A little before my time but I have read other accounts that seem to indicate that besides early ...

Re: 1940 Packard 120 EE-16 Carb

If you are planning to use this vehicle in business you definately need it reliable. Two sources come to mind for outright purchase, Merritt sells these outright for $450, I forget the core credit if you trade. Northfield Limited (Rand Broadstreet) in Ohio offered me an NOS EE-16 a few weeks ago for...

Re: Packard dealer, Claremont, CA

Sorry I can't help with any info BUT had to comment that is a cool model, obviously you are a telented model maker. You may try two other sites, Packard Info.com and the AACA forums, both free registration - just a bit larger audience, and a better chance you will get your info by hitting all three ...

Re: Hershey 2011

We were there from Wednesday to Friday, and three days is really not enough time either!! Picked up a nice original '39 120 owner's manual and a couple parts from Max Merrit along with some gas and oil smalls (my sub-hobby!). Was also a big year for books for some reason, as I also picked up Olympia...

Re: Vapor Loc

Yes, the Airtex is the pump I am currently running, would recomend it as well. I believe in supporting Packard vendors but must admit I paid about $30 more through one of the better known guys than you have to - later finding this is a stock item in most chain parts houses like NAPA... I cannot reme...

Hershey Attendees This Year?

Will be there as usual, Wed - Friday - we usually miss the show Saturday as my dad typically has another event that falls that weekend every year as usual. Will be trying to spend at least a little time in the PAC tent - look for the guy with the German Shepherd on his hat among all those Packard ha...

Re: Vapor Loc

Dave - I just try remember what people say when I think they know their stuff!! Agree on all counts. I am pretty much there with my car and the current common 10% ethanol, hopefully they hold it to that. I have tried the additives and found no real difference, but would probably introduce ...
