Re: Air Conditioning

I restored this car myself, and have done nothing to change the car in any significant way that can’t be put right in a day or so. The car is so rare I didn’t want to spoil it. It has 12 volts, a gear vendors overdrive, radial tires, and air. It’s a standard model 893 flat back sedan and there just ...

Re: Air Conditioning

I’m installing air on my 35 120. There isn’t sufficient space to add a pulley to the crank, so I added a pulley from a ‘60 Cadillac to my late model ball bearing water pump. Just bore the new pulley to fit the pump shaft and drill new holes in the face to match the factory pulley.

[img][/imgBCC Car Show 022.jpg This is a '35 120 Model 893 Standard Sedan (flat back). I am the second owner and have done a body off myself. It is correct except for a very few modern upgrades, as it is a daily driver. The car was originally purchased by the senior mechanic at the Packard dealershi...

Re: "49 Packard Tires

Hi, I have Diamond Back Classic tubeless white walls on my 35 120 Model 893. They are 700 - 16 Radials and they are wonderful! I can highly recommend them. I have my original rims and have had no problems for ten years. Give them a try. Ican send you a great picture, if you include your email. I'm n...

Re: '40 120 6V to 12V conversion

I used a new, standard 12 volt coil from NAPA. Use a dremel tool with small cut-off wheel and carefully cut through the armored cable at the ignition switch end. This worked well for me. I have had no issues at all with my electrical system. I elected to use an alternator because they charge at idle...

Re: Air Conditioning and engine temperature?

I have a '35 120 - 893 with AC. I used a fan from a 78 Chrysler, re-drilled the mounting bolt pattern to fit the Packard water pump hub (which is a newer style from a later engine). NOTE: This fan is MUCH larger diameter so, make a simple hub fixture, bolt it to your radial arm saw table and use a f...

stromberg ee-14 carb replacement

Could somebody please tell me the length of the double end spring loaded linkage rod that connects the throttle plates to the accelerator pump lever? Also, do you have any photos of that side of the carb showing how the linkage connects? It seems I have something incorrect as the throttle won't open...

Re: generator versus alternator

I used a standard 1 wire alternator (12 volt) on a bracket that i fabricated myself for my '35 120-893. Works GREAT! I did this mainly to power the quarts headlight bulbs and the A/C. It's just my personal preference that one shouldn't have to sweat to death going to a car show, especially in a Pack...
