Re: Need help setting my points in my 36 120B distributor
There is a fair bit of info on synchronising the points, both on this forum and at Packard info. But as a rough set up to get you going, it should be possible to turn the engine to the correct point for firing on number 1 cylinder (a few degrees before TDC with No1 on compression) then set the conta...

Re: Overheating
Assuming that the car is in a good state of tune (ignition timing is correct, thermostat not stuck etc), then it is quite likely that the radiator core is partially blocked. It might be worth draining, removing hoses and checking for flow. Flushing is possible, otherwise a new core might be required...

Re: stalling
And a further thought. I think it might be worth checking the gap on the contact breaker points has not closed up. That would also give the problem that you describe.

Re: 1928 Packard 526 engine oil
I would say that your 20/50 would not cause any problems. I use a 20/50 'historic' (ie high zinc content) oil in my older engines. But you might also consider moving to a 15/40 next time around, which should be a bit easier flowing after a cold start. This is what I use:- https://www.withamgroup.co....

Re: stalling
I would agree with all Dave`s remarks. Picking up on what you said, I don`t know how hilly KY is, but are you sure the ignition timing is correct? Being retarded would definitely reduce your 'pulling power', cause overheating and damage fuel economy. 10mpg, sounds like heavy fuel consumption to me. ...

Re: 1937 Super 8 acceleration problems
Sounds like you have an air leak into the inlet manifold. Try disconnecting and plugging any ancillary units on the manifold, such as vacuum wipers, and vacuum advance, and then test. Otherwise, it might be worn bushes on the throttle butterfly spindle causing air to be drawn in that way. Do also ch...

Re: Does anyone sell U-joints for a 1929 model?
Hello That all sounds interesting. As you say, removing leaves has given you more deflection on a bump, but also allowed the spring to ,wind-up, under drive and braking torque. Ideally, you need to reinstate the missing leaves, but correct the curvature of the spring. Well worth a try with replacing...
