Re: 1927 trans ID #

Referring to the Parts List books, that number does not correspond to any of the transmission part numbers for either the 1st to 5th Series six cylinder Packards or the 1st to 6th Series eight cylinder Packards.

Re: Tubes for 840 disc wheels?

The tubes that I fitted to my 740 with disc wheels had bendable valve stems, they come straight and you bend them to suit the hole in the disc perfectly. I don't recall the supplier but I am sure if you ask around you will find them.

Re: hi guy,i have a question, please help me!

I have the remains of a number of multi plate clutches from First Series cars. I believe the parts are interchangeable with your 326. let me have some more detail of your problem , is it one of the faced plates or the plain ones?

Re: 23 speedometer repair

Kelly, Your photos seem to show the same speedo as my 1922/3 Packard 6 cylinder , is yours a 6 cylinder? If its the eight cylinder it may be different to mine. I am not sure of your description: "is the speedo case the roundy protrusion which has a hex bolt head out the back and the 90 degree fittin...

Re: 23 speedometer repair

Inside the speedo case the speed indicator drum and the mileage indicator drums all rotate on pot metal framework, That framework can crack and deflect preventing these parts from functioning If you remove the speedo from the dash the case is easily removed exposing the condition of the internals. I...

Re: 23 speedometer repair

I have the same model car . The internals of the speedo are supported on a pot metal frame that cracks and expands. If that has happened to yours the only fix is to find one that is not damaged.

Re: Detroit Lubricator

Reproductions of Detroit Lubricator carburetors are available however this is an example of where an original is not worth very much compared to the new reproduction because the originals had pot metal bodies that are prone to cracking. So unless yours has had the pot metal parts replaced with brass...

Re: Bijur oil

A search of this site: " Re: '29 Packard 626 Fuel problem Postby Dave Czirr » Sat Feb 20, 2010 11:32 am I did a rudimentary chemical and physical analysis of some original Bijur oil some 30 years ago. It's nothing special in terms of composition, and it's viscosity is somewhere between SAE 50W motor...

Re: 1928 Packard 52 6 Sedan gas guage

Adam,
I believe your 526 has the King Seely, manometer type gas gauge. Most of the parts for the King Seely gauges can be bought from Classic & exotic. If you have an original face you could make a new gauge.
