Re: VAP0R LOCK

Thank you for your help. I am diving under my 41coupe this weekend to install the elect pump per the boards suggestion. Next I will replace my mech. Pump. My fuel filter bowl in front of carb. Seems to bubble when hot, and then the bowl empties out of fuel. My idea of stress relief is cruising in th...

Bob Stuefen

We lost a great classic car lover recently. Bob loved his Packards, a 1936 coupe, a 1947 coupe, a 1942 convertible, and a 1953 clipper. His 1936 coupe has won a national award. I greatly enjoyed sharing time with Bob and his classic Packards. When we would go to the Packard swap meet with the NorCal...

I AM BUYING A 6 VOLT ELECTRIC GAS PUMP TO HELP WITH MY VAPOR LOCK PROBLEM. CAN I WIRE THIS PUMP TO THE STARTER IGNITION SWITCH, TO ACTIVATE ONLY DURING START UP, OR IS THERE A BETTER CONNECTION. THANKS, BOB

Re: 1940 120 shuts off after hi speed run

Bob I kind of have the same problem. I just bring along a small plastic squirt bottle of gas to kick start the engine. My own personal thinking is I need a rebuilt fuel pump, and maybe an electric fuel pump assist. Best of luck, Bob Madlem

Re: Lights and tail lights do not work

Now that my lighting circuit works, I took the car to a classic car club parade . Driving slow in the parade traffic the lights would eventually go on and off, but driving fast on the freeway the lights worked fine. My generator has been rebuilt. Could the problem be in the voltage regulator? Any id...

Re: Lights and tail lights do not work

Thankyou Howard 56. I took the 41 bus coupe to a local car club friend. He discovered a short in the trunk light wire! He fixed all the grounds and sent me on my way so grateful my packard once again is road worthy. I am going to get my coil rebuilt, as the hot temp. Makes the car hard to start. Hap...

Re: Lights and tail lights do not work

When I pull out the lighting switch part way in the parking light position, only the two front parking lights come on.But when I pull the switch all the way out, nothing works, and the ammeter is dancing. With both taillights and headlights not working, hi or low beam, should I isolate the switch so...

Re: Lights and tail lights do not work

Howard56 I forgot to mention in my previous post that when the light switch is pulled out for the parking lights only, everything works. Only when the headlight switch is pulled out all the way the ammeter goes crazy, and no lights anywhere. Thanks, Bob

Re: Lights and tail lights do not work

Thank for your expertise. When I isolated the headlights, and tail lights, I did so by disconnecting the headlight feed wire from the headlight block, and the taillights I disconnected the wire at the rear connection serving the taillights. Do you think the beam foot switch could be at fault. Thanks...
