If it is similar to my 1201 there should be 2-3 nuts/bolts at the cowl end of the hood, in the center section. I accessed them from under the dash. I hope my memory is correct and this helps.

When I rebuilt my engine a few years ago I do not recall that end cap being a bearing surface. I had an oiling problem to the top end and recall we removed the cap to see if oil was getting from the bottom to top end. I do not believe the broken ear will cause oil to leak as the cap should seal arou...

It has been a while since the engine was finished. I have put almost 2000 miles on it now. I try to drive it a few times a month.
