Re: 22nd series numbers

Dave, you say: "The sequential numbering started at 2001. And it was the sequential production of that specific body type, each type had it's own sequence beginning with 2001. MANY high-numbered 22nd series 1949 cars were leftover 1948 models which were issued new vehicle number plates to make them ...

Re: antenna

Thank you so much for responding to what may seem like stupid questions. I will pass you info to my mechanic. It should help him to make sure this is working properly.

22nd series numbers

1949 Super 8 Victoria Convertible in Black (2279-9-10199) and 1949 Super 8 Victoria Convertible in Sylvan Green (2279-9-11255)

Do the last 5 digits represent to number of total Packards produced in that series or just convertibles? I presume these numbers would have started with 00001?

antenna

I hope this is the right topic area. I have two 22nd series convertible Victorias and have never bothered with the radios. Even if they worked, they would only support AM which is not something I would ever listen to. In any case, I now had one radio removed for a secret fix to play FM and for a new...

Re: Can One Add Power Steering To A 1949 Strait 8???

I believe the person who first posted this question 3 or 4 years ago is the same gentleman that completed an install on his dads 49. He has provided some photos and a description of components used and how he approached the conversion via some posts at the packardinfo forum. While there are other w...

Re: Can One Add Power Steering To A 1949 Strait 8???

Normal steering is fine. It's just the close encounters that are killing me. When the car is in slow movement mode like parking or other tight maneuvering. I don't remember this extreme effort back in the 50s when I had the same car but was in my early 20s. Old age probably has something to do with ...

Re: Can One Add Power Steering To A 1949 Strait 8???

This thread sort of ended without a resolution. I'm also interested in getting power steering on a 1949 (22nd series) Packard. Any ideas as to how?

Stuttering in 1st and 2nd gear

My 22nd series '49 Packard is in excellent shape but recently, when I shift, the engine seems to stutter in 1st and 2nd gear. Once I get to 3rd gear all is well and she rolls like a dream. I'm not a mechanic and have no clue as to what may be wrong, if anything. The car has been sitting in my garage...
