Re: Hole in block below the exhaust manifold?

Hello Dave. I see this post and notice that on my super 8 37, the heat riser is blocked. Or I suspect so as I see that the screw head is maintained with a wire between two bolts... It always ran fine li)e this, but she lived in South of France and is the first winter she truly goes through so... I w...

Re: 1937 super 8 water in exhaust manifold

Hello Dave.

No sign of wear into the cores.
No strange refill needed, except that it went quite hot when I got it, until I flushed the cooling system and then no more.
I guessed some compression test and the perhaps gasket?!
Then we’d see the valves seats...

Best regards.

1937 super 8 water in exhaust manifold

Hello.

I removed all manifolds today to have them cleaned and repaired as the exhaust one has on screw gap which is broken.
While doing this I found some water into the exhaust manifold, in 3, 4 and 7.
Any idea? Gasket?
No white smoke while running as far as I know...
Best regards.

Re: Bulbs power

Thank you for this fine analysis. Friends in the US have sealed beams on their 37, perhaps has it become technically fashionable, at some.point if it was only introduced in 40. In a 120 I found 25w, so 32 W seems reasonable. Will give it a try then with the 35w I can find on the market here as the r...

Bulbs power

Hello. Any idea of the power of the front headlights bulbs (main and parking)? On a super eight 1937. I know that you use sealed beams in the States, but just in case you’d know their power I could compare. Impossible to read on the bulbs or on the example of the garage manual I have, too worn out. ...

Re: 1937 headlights opening

And what is the use of the tiny hole in the chrome ring, on the lower end?

Best regards.

Re: 1937 headlights opening

Hello Dave. Even with this type of device, I cannot get it out. And it turns both way to an end. And it does the same on both headlights. I also tried to pull a bit on the chrome circle but they are solidly fixed. Would I date to,drill it? Not knowing what to,expect behind the screw, I hesitate... B...
