Re: 1938 6 cylinder engine question

After doing a compression test on my 1938 packard 6 cylinder the engine has no compression in cylinder #3. Any suggestions as to what should be done? Does the engine need a total rebuild? Any idea on cost for a rebuild? Body has a rust hole in the trunk and rust in both doors. Not sure if it makes s...

1938 6 cylinder engine question

I have a 1938 packard 110 6 cylinder that has been in the family since the 1970's. My question about the engine is this. To my knowledge the engine has never been rebuilt and the car runs and drives. The car seems underpowered and won't go much more than 35 mph. Is this all the power that I should e...

1938 Packard 110 hard start when warm

My 1938 Packard 110 sedan starts fine when cold but is difficult to start when the car is warm after been driving a distance. The engine cranks but needs a spray of starting fluid to start. The car is a 6 volt system. Has anyone used a 8 volt battery in their cars?

1938 Packard 110 hard start when car is warm

I have a 1938 Packard model 110 sedan. The car starts fine when cold but after driving for a period of time it is very difficult to start. It's not a vapor lock and the engine cranks but I end up needing to use a spray of ether to start the car when it is warm. The car is a 6 volt system and I'm not...

Re: 1938 Packard model 110 6 cylinder

Was the information on the 1938 decal data tag typed on the decal?? How did they impart the information onto the data tag? Should there be a specific body tag number on the car and where would I find this ?

Re: 1938 Packard model 110 6 cylinder

Thanks for the information, did they use decals for many years? The car is registered in NY State I am assuming that the VIN on the registration should be the correct number

1938 Packard model 110 6 cylinder

I have a 1938 Packard 6 cylinder model 110. This car was owned by my father for the past 35 years. The car doesn't have a vehicle identification plate on the firewall. There is an outline of the plate on the firewall. The question I have is I don't see any holes in the firewall where the plate was a...
