Re: Help with the definition of the car model?

The lack of running boards on a 1940 Packard with production coachwork would be the result of some modification made after the manufacture and sale of the car by Packard.

Re: Stone Guard wanted for 1930 Speedster

Hi Richard! Wow! A 734 Sedan!! I guess you know there are only 2 known, one at the Gilmore Museum in Michigan and the other in Florida. If you'd care to tell us, is yours one of these, or has a 3rd one surfaced, which would be really exciting news. I don't believe there are any current makers of the...

Re: Rebuild of 34 super8 starter & generator.

Those Owen-Dyneto units are very robust and unless they've been abused they shouldn't need much more than cutting the commutator and undercutting the mica, and new brushes and bearings. I've been thru my Owen-Dyneto units on my '34 Packard, though it was many years ago, and that's all I needed and t...

I'm not an authority on these but it looks like the unit used in 1934 and the 1 or 2 years prior.

Re: Correct wiring color requested.

Is there a "judging standard" manual available?

Nothing I'm aware of that would cover a small detail such as that.

Re: '42 model 160 fuse block layout

Wondering why information is so scarce of these autos?? Information on these cars is not scarce at all, reprints and/or originals of the factory shop manual, master parts list, factory service bulletins, and owner's manual are all readily available. Also, as others have noted and verified by the Pa...

Re: Pictures of our 1933 Packard Victoria

7:50 x 17 tires were used only by the Twelve. Twelve wheels were different to accommodate that tire, of course the rim width was wider but also they had a rolled double rim for extra strength, and threaded spokes and nipples. Spokes on the Eight and Super Eight wheels were welded into place. Correct...

A black fabrickoid-type sidemount cover is also shown in the 1933 Accessory Catalog. You can see them here on Bruce Blevin's 33 sedan.

Re: Problems with backfiring through carb

One set of points, coil and rotor tip fires 1, 2, 7 & 8, the other set does 3, 4, 5 & 6. Easy enough to see which set does which, I don't recall but put #1 on TDC on the compression stroke and just see which set is on the verge of opening and firing. At 6.00/1 compression ratio, premium gas is just ...
