In a "chain is only as strong as its weakest link" way, the roller assemblies on these engines are usually given short shrift, or declared "still good" when they are full of compound wear.

Most restoration shops send the twelve rocker assemblies to Classic and Exotic Service in Troy MI. They have done many sets, and have made the parts necessary. Yes, it sounds like the thermal delay inside the timing box is adjusted incorrectly, with too small an air gap. Easily adjusted, you have to remove the box from the underside of the car, drill out the rivets and make the adjustment. You can hook it up to a battery or power supply and time the delay,...

We made these from the original blueprints, with the standard head size/detail, and with a larger head for rod caps that are damaged and need a new mating surface machined. I'd rebuild the fuel pump and carburetor as a cursory first step, and replace the fuel flex hose to the pump with one of the excellent reproductions that Niagara Packards makes.

Thanks for the help, I think i found the issue. The ground wire coming from the battery and going to the block looks like its been replaced. Its too small and looks newer. It was also pretty corroded where it was bolted to the block, cleaned it up and got it to fire but barely. If I'm not mistaken,...
