Re: foam in radiator of my 38 6

My, this is a problem! I've no experience with the vinegar flush but I guess it couldn't hurt. I can't imagine, though, that the vinegar would get anything out that the flush chemical couldn't dislodge. Since professionals are doing this work I'm sure they've checked for visible leaks, adequate cool...

Re: 1939 Packard 6 (1700) Hood Mascot

If you have a copy of the Kimes book "Packard: A History of the Motor Car and the Company", on page 760 there is a photo of an apparently armless Goddess of Speed. The caption calls it the California model for the 17th and 18th series (1939 and 1940.) Her right knee is bent forward as mentioned abov...

Re: Exterior Paint vs Interior Dash color

I'm not definitely sure on this, as the dash on my '54 Convertible was repainted (glossy) by the prior owner, but the original paint on the underside of the dash and on the arms that hold the front seatbacks to the cushion (visible when the seatbacks are tilted forward) appear to be glossy. I would also check the radiator hoses, especially the lower hose. As the pump pulls the coolant are ther...

Re: How to clean the airfilter

Instructions can be found in the 1955-56 Packard Service Manual, viewable on the Packard Info site. Fuel tank removal and installation is covered in the Fuel and Exhaust Section. Air cleaner servicing is covered in the Lubrication Section. Dropping the tank looks to be very straightforward, though I...

Re: POWER TOP FLUID

I have a 1954 Convertible. When I first got it nine years ago, it had brake fluid in it as recommended by the factory. Brake fluid has drawbacks. It absorbs moisture which can rust out the lines and when a leak occurs the fluid will lift any paint it comes in contact with, ruin carpeting and other s...
