Re: 1936 Super8? need help with ID

FYI One more thing; Packard Washington was the initial Packard Dealer that sold this car. This dealership was located in Washington DC. They sold a lot of cars to "official" and diplomatic personnel over the years. With its out-of-country present location--perhaps the car wound up there through some...

Re: HELP 1950 PACKARD HEARSE!!

That's certainly an unusual Packard Hearse. First of all, this is more likely a 1951 model rather than a '50 based on the front sheet metal. I have seen a couple of similar units from Argentina & elsewhere 'way South of the border. It doesn't have the "look" of a Henney, so I would suggest that this...

Re: Rare Civil Defence Henney Found

MY assembling a tentative CD Roster was just an exercise in fun. Even so, with the very small "universe" of CDs produced--this shows generally how they probably were initially distributed. Your comments are well taken & a regional "guess" location based on specific data is just that, but for my purp...

Re: Rare Civil Defence Henney Found

Until we have more photos of the CD; there is one more thing we can look at regarding CD History. Where did they all go???? Just F Y I !!! McPherson's Henney book says that there were 100 ordered (by whom? USA? Civilian Defense?) and only ten or so were completed. He further stated that New York Cit...

Re: Rare Civil Defence Henney Found

I hope you found those photos of interest. That Cincinnati CD photo is the only one I had. You are probably right about its door conversion & other changes--it was a professional job--perhaps Kelly did it at the same time it did the Caddy. The 1942 production schedule at Henney seems to have revolve...

Re: Rare Civil Defence Henney Found

Thanks for all those photo posts, I didn't realize that so many had the "standard" Henney paint when new. Therefore, I believe you are correct in thinking that all were delivered this way with additional lettering and only got other paint in later years. In as much as this was considered a CIVILIAN ...

Re: Rare Civil Defence Henney Found

Patrick; Thanks for sharing those very interesting photos of your CD. I had never seen this rear view before. As to the Oregon unit perhaps someone much later just cut out the corners of the "cross" and intended to make a square window--the ones in the rear may have been treated the same way. The in...

Re: Rare Civil Defence Henney Found

I should have ID'd this better, this letter to the editor page was from the Cormorant--not the newsbulletin,
sorry. I found the exact date today after digging thru several decades of past issues. This was from the
Autumn 1992 Cormorant on page 34. I did not see any follow up on this item.

Re: Rare Civil Defence Henney Found

Patrick, I'm glad to hear from you and applaud your good luck in finding the Henney CD. I will be happy to share what I found. I have a 42 120 combo & a 42 160 airport limo; so I have collected anything I have spotted over the years on the 42 HENNEY. I'm far from an expert on them, but fortunately w...

Re: Rare Civil Defence Henney Found

One more thought--Perhaps George Hamlin or someone in the PCS could contact Mr. Martin on this ambulance and determine the VIN # , build date and importantly the firewall anti thief #. This might shed some light on the CD production and the later days of 1942 production. One source said that some go...
