Re: Tires

Let's just let this go and start an argument about how generators and mechanical regulators are as good as alternators! Or maybe points and condensers are as reliable as electronic ignition! Geez! Yes... it would be equally as silly, wouldn't it? Of course nobody said any of these things either. Bu...

Re: Tires

I hate to leave this thread with anyone believing that there is some inherent defect with radial tires, there are not. The premature failure of radial tires or any tires for that matter is failure to maintain proper manufacturer levels of inflation. Low inflation causes heat buildup, tire compound ...

Re: Tires

Radial tires... as much as some folks today may believe it–radials are not a panacea for anti-blow-outs. For anyone who does not believe this, try driving Southern California's Interstate-15 on the way to Las Vegas. Once you pass Victorville, start looking on the sides of the road for tire shards an...

Re: Tires

Good morning David...It seems to me that I have been cautioned not to run a bias ply tire on one wheel and a radial tire on another wheel. If I am wrong, someone will take a minute to correct me. ;) Please, please, please. If you value your car and you value your life... never, never, never ever mi...

Kulturafton 2018 Event In Sweden

I've recently returned from a marvelous event in Sweden hosted by Nordic Packard Club co-organized by Ole Book. The event was an absolute joy to attend and was held at the beautiful island resort of Villa Brevik. And the array of cars was breathtaking. I saw everything from a Russian ZIS copy of a ...

Re: 2016 SEMA Show

Subsequent to visiting SEMA show. A wealth intriguing issues for the general vehicle sweetheart. Out of the few automobiles on display, I discovered few Packard. It's brilliant because of the reality the vehicle is one of a kind and finish with two or three minor special cases. The motor runs wipe ...

Re: 2016 SEMA Show

The car that was displayed 2 years ago at SEMA (which itself is supposed to be a closed automotive industry-only show) in Las Vegas was not a "Packard concept" car, but rather what used to be known as a "full custom." A concept car as it was originally known in the terminology would have been built...

Re: packard orange paint

Does anyone know about a source for the orange paint used on the Packard Emblem on the wheel covers on a 47 clipper? I tried having the local body supply business match it, but they said my sample was not large enough for them to get a reading. Something in a spray can would be great because I only...

Re: 1954 Packard Model Identification

I have recently come into ownership of a 1954 Packard "Executive" car. My question is the identification number which is: 5472-2599 this number seems to indicate a 1954 Packard Clipper. My car looks like a 1954 Packard Executive Was there a special "Clipper" Model that had a 149" wheelbase? Thanks ...

Re: 1954 Packard Model Identification

Did you say the ID plates were welded on or riveted on? The number plate in this PDF image clearly has been removed and re-attached in a way the factory did not do. The big domed rivets are too big for the type used in 1953 (wrong type of plate too) and the 1954 plates such as this one were spot-we...
