Re: 1954 Caribbean

I was familiar with this car many years ago. Homer Fitterling, of course only had very high quality pieces. He also was 2nd owner of Don Mitchell's "Mitchell Panther" and a noted Duesenberg collector. Looks like you have 1954 Caribbean #75... and in beautiful condition. I, for one, would love to see...

Re: Speedometer off EXACTLY five MPH..?

Most factory speedometers up until recent years have over-read speeds. This is not at all unusual. And as Dave has pointed out, tires that people are using today can also affect speed of a vehicle in real time. Diameters of tires differ from original and certainly radials usually sit differently, fl...

Re: paint blending

If your Packard has nitrocellulose laquer, the process of "color sanding" and other such stuff that is done with present-day enamels, acrylics, etc. is really not applicable. Not a good idea. It is neither needed, nor good for the paint. Unless chmically damaged somehow, old lacquers will always shi...

Re: Any Packard owners in SE Iowa?

Hello... there is very likely someone who lives not far from you. However, at this very moment, many of the members are attending the 2016 National Packard Meet in Traverse City, Michigan and so you are not likely to get responses until another week or so has passed. You mention Galena, IL. This Nat...

Re: meaning of hood ornaments

Hello... while there was a similar aftermarket piece for cars, this appears to be a bicycle ornament rather than a car one. Take a clear photo with a ruler next to it so the actual size is apparent.

Re: Looking for an appraiser in Southern California

Good Morning Leeedy... You might also try Custom Auto in Santa Ana. Robert Escalante has been repairing, restoring, and working with Packard Owners for many, many years. I'm sure that he could give you an idea of value. If work is needed to awaken them for test drives, he can help. You can reach hi...

Re: Packard and Neon signs

Another story that continues to be sold, bold, told, told, told, told and re-told. But it is dead wrong. No matter how many neon tours, museums, magazine articles, newspaper articles, "neon historians, "neon experts" and internet "histories" say otherwise, Earle C. Anthony–by his own words, his own ...

Re: Packard concept cars

Ahhh... the old Ford reverse backlight window story surfaces once again. This is yet another story that just refuses to die. The Balboa was designed by Richard Teague. But Teague didn't somehow magically migrate the Balboa roof over to Ford for the Continental (Marks III to V, 1958-60). In fact, For...
