Re: Looking for an appraiser in Southern California

Look up Robert DeMars in Palm Springs. He has been in that business for many, many years and knows Packards.

Re: 1953 Packard Caribbean VIN

One of the best ways to learn about this car is to take come photos and post those. Non-original usually jumps right out of photos!

Re: GM "Autronic Eye"

I thought I recalled somrthing about the Autronic Eye mentioned regarding Harry DuBois and his Esquire conversions. It might be in that issue. GM's Autronic Eye headlight dimmer was used on some 1956 Packard Esquires. As I recall, the system was shown in an Esquire in George Hamlin's article in The ...

Re: Packard Model Cars

Hi there America, As a life long lover of the "Best Car" in the world, could anyone tell me where I can obtain scale model die-cast or resin models of our favourite car? And who are regarded as being the best and most faithful reproductions. I am based in the United Kingdom. Thank you in anticipati...

Re: Stopped by the Packard factory in Detroit this weekend

Ahhh. Sold out, huh? Well, here is just one more reason why it is such a great thing to be involved with The Packard Club. You get first-hand info and you are in on the ground floor with the greatest glossy periodical on Packard published since the company went out of biz. And you can attend amazing...

Re: Stopped by the Packard factory in Detroit this weekend

Went to Detroit this weekend for the Autorama. This was my first time ever visiting Detroit. Yesterday we went by the Packard factory and checked it out. It was amazing to me how big the place down and pretty depressing the state it's in and trying to imagine it in its prime. Amazing how people wen...

Re: I'm back

One of the first things most people do when acquiring an old convertible with a power top on it is to try and lower the top–right away. Bad idea unless the top cylinders and mechanism have been serviced and are known to be in good working order. If a top mechanism has not been lowered in a long time...

Re: Robert J. Neal, Packard historian, author and gentleman

I am saddened to hear this unfortunate news. Bob and I communicated many times over the years. The mails and emails back & forth were always interesting. While I saw Bob on occasion when I had a house in the Pacific northwest, I had not seen him in a long time until the PAC National in 2013 at Ponti...

Re: Earle C. Anthony

Earle C. Anthony's Los Angeles dealership (he had several) was one of the most beautiful car dealerships ever. And it was so huge that it could accommodate up to 25 full-sized new cars on display. Mr. Anthony was responsible for a number of firsts and breakthrough developments such as bringing succe...

Re: Earle C. Anthony

The Earle C. Anthony Los Angeles dealership where your car would have been sold (new) was at 1000 South Hope Street. That location today is occupied by new condos known as "Packard Lofts" at the corner of Hope and Olympic. There is ample history of Earle C. Anthony both on this site as well as in se...
