Re: power brakes on 42 limo

Totally agree. You should have absolutely no problems locking those brakes up. In fact, it's your tires that hinder your actual stopping ability.

Re: Wheel pin striping

You don't need a jig to spin the wheel. It'll spin just fine while on the car. Jack it up to a comfortable level. What's nice about pin stripping is that you can practice while trying to get it right. Just keep wiping off until you like what you see.

Re: Transmission/Overdrive Lube Fill Concern

Yes, there is a passage. And there's a specific order and method in the way you are to fill them both. If you do not have the reproduced bound set of Service Manual Bulletins, I highly suggest you get one.

Re: How to remove the hood ornament

You need to first loosen the chrome trip that runs from the ornament to the firewall. Once loosened, slide it back a couple of inches. Your hood ornament then should slide backward about an inch or so, then lift up.

Re: '29 Packard 626 Fuel problem

I believe you need to get a fuel-line shut-off valve. Ours was located just below the vacuum tank.

Re: Original Jack For A 1939 Or 1940 Packard 160 or 180

This is the jack in my 1940 Packard 1808 Touring Sedan. I believe it to be the original unit.
