Re: reversing from 6volt negative ground to positive ground

I reversed the ground. I touched the A and battery terminals on the regulator. There was a momentary spark. The car started right up and is charging fine. The battery was already up so when I put a DVOM across the terminals it read 6.88 volts while running. It seems to be working fine. I may not nee...

Re: reversing from 6volt negative ground to positive ground

Thanks Dave and 903. That seems simple enough. 903 said that the regulator may be damaged by the reversing process. I may just reverse it and replace the regulator. I will let you know. Thanks for all of the help. Tracy.

Re: reversing from 6volt negative ground to positive ground

I haven't been here for a while. The electrical issue was the battery. It tested good with my load tester, but I bought a hydrometer and found that I had 1 bad cell and 2 FAIR cells. That got me started and running. It also cleared up the cranking after key was off. How do you reverse the voltage ba...

Re: reversing from 6volt negative ground to positive ground

Thanks Howard. A lot of very good information. I replaced the battery cables last year with 2 GA cables. I didn't realize that it actually took larger cables for a lesser voltage system although I should have thought of it as when changing from 120-240 volts you actually use 1/2 of the amps. I didn'...

Re: reversing from 6volt negative ground to positive ground

It turns VERY slow. just for a few times, then stops turning. Sometimes it will start, sometimes not. The starter will sometimes turn after the key is out of the ignition. I disconnected the battery and ordered a new solenoid-supposed to be here tomorrow. I have a load tester and tested the battery-...

reversing from 6volt negative ground to positive ground

I have been working on my 52 Deluxe 200 off and on for about a year now. When I bought it the previous owner had reversed the ground from positive to negative. It is still a 6 volt. The system just seems to drag a lot[slow starting even with a fully charged battery. Would it help to reverse the curr...

Would my 52 Deluxe 200 have carpeting?

There is no carpeting in my 52 Deluxe 200 -4 dr. There seems to be the remnants of rubber mats. Would there have been carpeting or just the rubber mats? I understand the Deluxe 200's were the more plain Jane models. Thanks, Tracy.

Thanks Dave. I didn't realize the frames were dated.

Frame and chassis paint for a 52 Deluxe 200

I am getting ready to do a frame-off on my 52 Deluxe 200. I have been looking at the Eastwood black frame paint. Is that the correct paint to use on the frame and chassis? This is the first frame-off I have done. All help appreciated. Thanks, Tracy.
