Re: Leaking Rear Main Bearing

Yep, you pretty much nailed it. I have done most of those things but fortunately found little problem except lack of grease. 22 pumps in the king pins each side, but still tight. Car runs good when it finally starts no blue smoke, no black smoke. Fouled plugs with lots of carbon out the tail pipe, m...

Re: Leaking Rear Main Bearing

Thanks Dave, I have that same picture in my shop manual and I think I see bolts going in from the rear just above and below the crank. I know Max Merrill shows a rear main seal as two pieces, so it may be a cord ? Do think that plate that is bolted to the rear is the slinger and it just diverts the ...

Leaking Rear Main Bearing

I have a 1932 901 that appears to have a leaking rear main bearing seal. Oil is coming out the flange between the gear box and the oil pan. I think this has been a long term issue as someone even installed a small sheet metal pan to catch the drips and soak it up with a blue paper towel. Has anyone ...

Many Thanks Dave, again you are a wealth of info. I may keep this article in the car, just in case someone claims to know otherwise.

1932 Exhaust System

I have a 1932 901 and need to replace the exhaust system. Does anyone know ( for sure ) if the exhaust pipe should exit on the right or left side of car ? I have two suppliers that insist that they are correct one with right side, one with left side. It seems to me that a crossover pipe is quite a w...

Re: Throw out bearing lube

Thanks Dave, your help is very much appreciated. I did hook up a temp line and squirted about 1oz of 40w oil in that line, I figured it could not hurt. Fortunately the bearing does not seem to make any noise so it either did some good, or at least no harm. Interesting that the Bijur might have been ...

Throw out bearing lube

New Member here, On my 1932 901 the automatic Bijur system was not connected when I bought the car, the vacuum tube was not installed to the intake manifold, now fixed, and working, maybe ! Upon inspecting all the Bijur meters I found that the one to my throw out bearing was blocked off and a zerk (...

Re: installing electric fuel pump

Hey guys, I am new here and have the same question. I just bought a 1932 901 and it has an electric fuel pump but the mechanical pump is still in place. Car makes a lot of revs before it starts. I too thought that odd, and not sure if the pump shuts off on oil pressure as the sound of the exhaust is...
