Re: 1949 Packard 8 Club Sedan

Joe, a while back you asked for a picture of my 26 Star. Here is one of the Star 6 I bought as is. There is also a picture of a 26 Star Landau that is similar to one that I have bought and will be restoring. The one that I am buying is in bad shape in the rear and needs all of the wood frame rebuilt...

Sounds like a party to me! You have every right to be both proud and happy; you've done a marvelous job on your 49 Packard Club and brought the relatively rare car back to the street again (almost).

Re: 1949 Packard 8 Club Sedan

Joe simply continues to amaze me with the fixes he comes up with to work around common problems such as the rotted thermostat housing. I would have probably spent hours searching for one that was close enough to ream out one hole a little for it to fit OK and cut a new gasket for it (if I could even...

Re: help identifying cowl

Hello and welcome to the Forum. One good lead in identifying your cowl is the Theft Proof Number imprinted on the upper left passenger side of the firewall. It should start with a figure that looks like < with the ends meeting to form a form a pyramid, and end with a > with the ends meeting to form ...

Re: 1939 Packard Presidential Limo on Sale

First, I want to welcome you to the club! Second, I've love to hear your story if you would not mind sharing it with us. Since you say you are the first owner of a 76 year old car, that car must have an extremely interesting story and I'm betting that you have just as interesting a one to go with it...

Re: 1949 Packard 8 Club Sedan

I like your idea. Did you get an alternator that looked the same as the old generator or does it look like an alternator. I'm asking because I saw an ad for a new alternator that was cosmetically identical to the original equipment Delco generator. If you did that and had the other electrical system...

Re: History of owners - car, car body, motor

It would be wonderful it this type of information was available on the cars that we love but it is something that would take a lot of time and energy to create. There has been a beginning only with the two primary websites that I frequent: this one and the packardinfo site. But, having a Registry of...

Re: Upholstery Supply/Sourcing

Hello and welcome to the Forum. I'll try to help a little. There is an outfit called SMS Auto Fabric that has original style fabric for the 53 Packard. They do not show model but they do show a green. It might be worth giving them a call. Web site is: http://www.smsautofabrics.com/results.php?make=P...

Re: HELP

Clipper56, I am going to have to agree with both Dave and Don in different respects. First and foremost, never be afraid to ask questions; that is how you learn. I've been a teacher for over 20 years and that is one of the first things I try to teach students; if you do not know, ask. The old saying...
