Re: 1955 Packard Clipper Constellation for sale

I was really afraid that it did when you said 9,000 miles. It is good that the current owner was honest with you. Some are not and would tell you it was factory. I would consider this as a classic or vintage car and not put it in the daily driver category but I would not tell the owner that. He can ...

Re: 1949 Packard 8 Club Sedan

I've been thinking, I do not know about anyone else but I'd gladly pay you $15-$20 for you to take the complete set of pictures and discussion AFTER you finish the project and get you car up and running again. This has been the most complete and detailed blog I have ever encountered for doing this t...

Re: 1955 Packard Clipper Constellation for sale

First, sending pictures is always a good thing here on the Forum. We can tell a lot more about a car by looking at it. But, looking beyond that, there are some general ideas that I use that I am sure are quite different than many others. They work for me but each person has their own way of looking ...

Re: donor car/restoration

I agree that Dave gave you excellent advice so let me confuse you a little and ask a couple of questions. What makes you think it needs a frame up restoration? The car appears to be mostly there and the engine, unless it is completely fried, wants to run. I've seen engines that set for 30+ years in ...

Re: Robert J. Neal, Packard historian, author and gentleman

Dave, thanks for the news. I have been waiting and praying that somehow he would get better. I'm glad he was with us long enough to spend this last Christmas with his family and few a close friends. Although we never met, he was a great encouragement to me and allowed me to help him in his latest bo...

Re: can someone help me identify this car? Hawk?

Howard56, now you have me confused a little (like that's hard to do). According to the Reference section on this site the 58Y8 was the Hawk and it had a 120 1/2" wheelbase. The 58LS shows to be a 2-door HT Coupe at 116 1/2" wheelbase. Where am I going wrong with this?

Re: 1949 Packard 8 Club Sedan

I've got a three-car garage close to my house that the original builder added. It has one bay with a higher door but the ceilings are too low to put a lift in them. I've been talking to my contractor brother-in-law and he agrees with me that I can go back it and raise the ceiling by 12-14 inches (to...

Re: can someone help me identify this car? Hawk?

First, I want to welcome you to the Forum. You will find a lot of helpful people here. The 58LS was a Packard 2-Door Hardtop Coupe. It was not a Hawk based on the information I've seen but I can always be wrong. The Hawk has a V-8 and was Supercharged. I'm sure someone with specific information on t...
