Re: Replacement Parts

An excellent reference is the Hollander Interchange. I have the 1946-1956 version and would be happy to look up a few parts for you, so long as it doesn't become my life's work :-). Shoot me a few parts with any identification numbers you have and I'll do my best to look them up for you. If this wor...

Re: New Topic or even section?

I recently purchased, "Ask the Man Who Owns One" An Illustrated History of Packard Advertising by Arthur W. Einstein, Jr. I haven't had the time to go completely through it but what I have gone through looks to be an excellent examination of the advertising history of Packard. He goes into detail ab...

Re: Thanks Dave

I'd like to add my thanks to Dave for his great articles. He has been immensely helpful to me and I have not even started the restoration yet. I'm looking forward to learning more about these fine classic cars as I delve into the mechanics of my cars starting with the 1950 Deluxe 8. I'm currently in...

Re: Reviving a Car from Long Hibernation

Dave, thanks again for this wonderful step-by-step guide. It makes a good check list for those of use whose memory needs a little jogging from time to time and it great help for those who have not been under the hood for a few years. It is especially helpful for anyone bring back a old friend or eve...

Re: c2cfabrication

I've asked the same question on two different Forums and gotten the same answer. They are very close to the original. You may have to make some adjustments but they, according to the people who have used them, have gone to great lengths to make them accurate and true. I plan to use them on two of my...

Any dealing with c2cfabrication?

Has anyone here ever had any dealings with this company? The website is here: http://c2cfabrication.com/ and they sell floor pans, trunk pan, and other items that typically rust out on older cars. I'm going to have to replace some of these parts and would like to know of a good reliable place to wor...

Re: speed

I think you'll probably find that your RPM will be slightly lower that 1/2 of your speed at cruising speeds. If you are cruising in high gear at 60 the RPM will be a little less that 30,000 RPM and if cruising at 80 the RPM will be a little less the 40,000 RPM. I used to use this for a while when my...

Firestone Plugs

I was looking over the engine of the newest addition today (50 Deluxe 8) and noticed that it has Firestone T40F Spark Plugs in it. I don't even remember Firestone making plugs so it must be in the dead zone of my memory. I just thought that it was an interesting bit of information. They actually hav...
