Re: 1952 Patrician - Derham or Henney?

Maybe it is just the picture or my imagination but looking at the more recent picture of the passenger side on the passenger side upper front fender above the stainless trim, aren't there two circular blemishes in the paint close together looking like there might have been holes there filled in with...

Re: 1952 Patrician - Derham or Henney?

FWIW I tend to lean towards Derham rather than Henney primarily because the small privacy rear window and vinyl treatment seems to have been Derham's signature treatment at that time. I would refer you to the Winter 2007, Number 129 Packard Cormorant magazine containing an article on Malcolm Miller'...

Re: Paint PACKARD on HUBCAPS

My method is generally the same as Dave's. I might add a couple of things. Get a small brush like used in painting models. Also, I keep plenty of cue tips ready and enamel thinner, turpentine, or mineral spirits handy, dip the cue tips in the enamel thinner, turpentine, or mineral spirits and use th...

Re: Trunk Mat Reproduced??

I have owned two 53 Clipper Deluxes, one of which I currently own. Both of them had (one has) a thin gunmetal gray colored wood fiber type sheet cemented on the trunk floor. I would think it would be easy enough to find some kind of wood product, paper or vinyl, that painted gunmetal grey, would at ...

Re: Packard Knowledge Continues to Expand

In case anyone is interested, the Packard Cormorant article I referred to is in the Spring 2004 issue, Number 114, entitled: "Packard Inspired--But Not Packard Reincarnated --It's Time We Dispelled the Myths Around the ZIS -110" by George L. Hamlin. The issue may still be available through the Packa...

Re: Packard Knowledge Continues to Expand

Mr. Duerksen is not the only knowledgeable auto historian to have thought that Packard provided their senior pre-war body dies to the Russians. Fact: Roosevelt and Stalin had discussions about arrangements for postwar, much of which were not made public for years afterward. Fact: Stalin and the Russ...

Re: new spark plugs don't start car

Kenneth, I could be wrong but could it be that the new plugs you are putting in are not as hot as the old plugs and hence don't ignite as well? Dave Czirr previously posted a 1962 chart concerning spark plugs in a 2009 discussion in this Electrical and Fuel section titled 53 Packard Clipper Delux. H...
