Re: Larger Muffler and Tail Pipe for 1949 Deluxe 8

Reducing exhaust back pressure has long been found to increase an engine's performance. However, the benefit is usually found only at higher RPMs. Whether a larger exhaust system will help with cooling is doubtful. The 356 exhaust pipe will require a 356 exhaust manifold due to the flange type and s...

Re: Thief-Proof Numbers

Dave, do you recall if Jim Hollingsworth mentioned this in his book on the 1940 Packards?

Re: Air cleaner

Forgot to mention that I saved the air cleaner parts that were replaced with the new type elements in case the next owners want to have oil bath air cleaners. Modifications I do to take advantage of more modern parts are done so that there are no permanent changes made and the original type parts ca...

Re: Greenwich (CT) Concours d'elegance - 2013

Dave, thank you for sharing these photos. We here in Central Texas do not have any concours the quality of Greenwich. The nearest quality show is Keels and Wheels in Houston which features wooden hull boats and a very nice field of vehicles. Personally, I would love to see more photos from Greenwich...

Re: Air cleaner

If you need or want to be authentic to stock, then retain the oil bath. Dave gave you good information about the filter media. I have had good luck fitting my Packards with the modern pleated paper replaceable elements. I found ones that are close in size to the removable part of the oil bath and ar...

Re: 1937 Trunk Rack & Side Skirts

David Flack, "The Flackmaster", specializes in 1937 Packards. He also posts on the PackardInfo site and you can post your want there and PM (Private Mail) him there too. My 115C Convertible Coupe has the luggage rack and I think it adds an attractive feature to the rear of the car.

Re: Junior Cars

The Junior 6-cylinder pre-war Packards did not have side mounts because there was not enough room for them in the fenders due to the short wheelbase. The 120s had a 5" longer wheelbase than the 110s which was all in the front of the car from the cowl forward. Side mounts would fit in these longer fr...

Re: 36th Annual Texas Packard Meet

The 36th Annual Texas Packar Meet was a great success. We had over 100 master registrations. A master registration could be an individual, a couple, or a family. Probably about 130 people attending. There were about 65 Packards registered. The number of people and Packards was a new record high. App...
