Re: Broken Speedo Cable

Good advice from Czirr. Another cause for the broken cable could be a frozen speedometer head. See how easily the part that the cable turns can be turned. It should be free. If not, a drop or two of light machine oil might free it up. I think there is a small oiling hole on the top of the housing wh...

Re: Does the carb need an adjustment?

37Packard, given your rude, crude, and impolite message to Czirr, I doubt anyone here will be willing to offer you help in the future. Why? Because if they offer an unsolicited comment that is not to your liking, the reply is not one they will be willing to suffer. Given this, you have a most desira...

Re: Searching for 1936 Phaeton

A good place to start would be this club's Membership Directory and Handbook where there is an index listing by year and model. Also, the PackardInformation.com site has an owner's register listing by year and model. There were two V-12 Phaetons in 1936 or 14th series, the Sport Phaeton and the Phae...

Re: Causes of start up slow oil pressure build up.

Bill --- Many of us use a 15W-40 oil in our 356 engines. You should not need anything higher than this unless your engine is badly worn. This weight oil provides good flow at cold start up and good protection at operating temperature. I made some suggestions to your oil pressure gauge reading in the...

Re: increase power upon rebuilding 282ci engine

Bob, may I suggest you get a later 327 cu. in. engine and have it rebuilt? There is a chap in Australia who has done this to his prewar junior Packard and comments from time to time about its impressive performance. It will bolt right in, and Packard offered a procedure to do this as a replacement e...

Re: Repair mechanical of wing window 1940-180

You may want to give John Ulrich a call. I bought a vent window gear from him for my 115C. He advertises in Packard publications and is in the San Francisco Bay Area.

36th Annual Texas Packard Meet

The 36th Annual Texas Packard Meet will be held in Salado April 4-7, 2013. This is the oldest regional Packard meet in the country and possibly the largest. Last year 101 master registrations resulted in over 200 participants and 55 Packards. Packard lovers came from all over Texas plus eight other ...
