Re: Packard 8 Timing
Dave, what you say makes sense to me. The fuels today have significantly different vapor pressure than the fuels that were formulated for carbureted systems. Today the fuels are made for fuel injection systems where the fuel is injected into the chamber under pressue as opposed to carbureted systems...

Packard 8 Timing
I have a 1937 120C with a 1946 282 engine and I am trying to determine the correct ignition timing (vibration damper). Any help would be appreciated. The !941-48 Packard Engine manual says: 1951 Clipper 7 * BTDC 20th & 21 series 7* BTDC 22 nd series 6* BTDC The AEA Tune-Up System says: Packard Eight...

Re: Nickel?
Dave thanks for the response. I will have it re-chromed. I have had a lot of parts re-chromed over the years and it was fairly obvious that that had been chromed before but I have never seen chromed parts with a very dull grey looking finish, no rust and not peeling - the windshield frame along with...

Nickel?
My 1937 120-C sedan convertible windshield frame appears to be nickel rather than chrome - should I try to buff it or chrome plate?

Re: Thermostat
Dave I have looked at a number of engine compartment photos of '37 and '46 and the only difference I can see is that the nozzle comes out of the bottom of the upper tank on the '37 at a slight angle and comes straight out of the face of the upper tank on the '46. See photo before removing radiator i...

Re: Thermostat
Dave, thanks for your response. I suspected that there could be a mismatch between a 1937 radiator and a 1946 engine but others have said that there is little too no difference between a 1937 120C engine and the 1946 282 - that they are basically the same, I do not know, I am new to the world of Pac...

Re: Thermostat
Thanks for the response Prudence, I have been on Max Merritt's (as well as Kanter and Urlich) website but do not know which thermostat/gasket kit to order (TK102 or TK103) or which radiator hose set I need since my radiator nozzles are 1 1/2" in dia. and the nozzles on my thermostat housing and wate...

Thermostat
I have a 1937 120C with a 1946 282 replacement engine (date 11/6/45) so I am not sure if the water pump, outlet nozzle or radiator is a 120C or 282.. When I install my re-cored radiator I want to install a thermostat and new hoses. The engine did not have a thermostat and the upper radiator hose was...

Re: Radiator Re-Core
When I contacted my radiator repair person to tell them that I thought that their price of $1900 to re-core was about double what it should be and that I would come and pick-up the radiator I was told that they had already taken it apart, ordered the core and was making repairs to the tanks and outl...

Re: Radiator Re-Core
Flackmaster, thank you for the response and for the offer - before I go back to my radiator repair person I want to verify that you will you sell me a re-cored 1937 Packard 120C radiator, tanks in good shape, for $900 plus shipping. I suspected that the $1900 price was too high.
Thanks
Dwight
