Oil Filter

Post by pkrd400 » Mon Mar 28, 2016 8:35 am

I can't seem to find an element which fits into a fixed canister type oil filter on the top of the engine for a 56 Four Hundred. Anyone know where I can get one or more? Thanks, Joe

I just pick them up routinely at the local auto parts store, they are not unique to Packard and were also used on many other makes and models. Fram C4P, Wix 51006, Purolator L30034. Of these the Fram is usually the easiest to find.

Thank you Dave for getting back to me so fast. Unfortunately I posted for a canister filter when I should have said an element filter which fits into a fixed
canister that is on the top of the engine. I guess it's old age setting in. Joe

Yes Joe, those are the numbers for the V8 Packard oil filter element that fits into the housing or container on the engine.

The oil filter helps remove contaminants from your car engine's oil that can accumulate over time as the oil keeps your engine clean.

Based on my experience, Purolator does a better job of filtering.
