1937 Packard super 8 Radiator hose
Good morning,
I have tried to take off the bottom radiator hose to flush the radiator to no avail. Do anyone know how to take this hose off?
Thanks

I think we could use a better description of your problem, and perhaps a photo or two, as upper and lower radiator hoses are routinely replaced and typically just require the loosening of the hose clamp and pulling the hose from the neck of the oil cooler or lower radiator tank.

The bottom hose is about six inches and I just can't force it off.

If whomever installed it used a gasket shellac on the neck, you'll probably have to break it free by inserting something beneath the hose to break the adhesion. Other than that, if the hose is old and brittle it's probably past it's "replace by" date so you could more easily just cut it off and replace it with a new hose.

Here is a picture of the hose. The oil cooler is to the left. I can move the hose on the oil cooler neck, but I don't have the room to force it off. The hose is too stiff and there is about four inches between the end of the

When you do decide to cut it off and replace it, I suggest you make the replacement somewhat shorter in length, one doesn't need all that length of hose over the neck of the cooler.

What is a torque on the water jacket screws?

There were no torque specifications in that era, factory and dealer mechanics were taught to tighten "by feel". You could use the values in a torque chart based on the grade of fastener and the thread pitch and diameter. But remember it's a non-pressurized cooling system so you're only sealing against the force of gravity on the coolant, so don't overdo it, it's no fun extracting broken bolts and/or repairing threads.
