Oil and transmission dipsticks

Post by Wilson55clipper » Thu Jun 18, 2020 11:09 am

I am new to the 1955 Packard Clipper engine and having trouble locating the oil and transmission dipsticks. I found two dipsticks and one has ultra-matic on the handle. I am thinking that would be the transmission. The two dipsticks are close together. I can take a picture if needed but any help would be great.

The one marked Ultramatic is the transmission. The other, going directly into the side of the oil pan quite close to one of the spark plugs, is for the crankcase motor oil. If still in doubt, check the coor of the fluid, transmission fluid almost always is red in color.
