Bearing Sources?

Post by Clipper555 » Tue May 15, 2018 7:47 am

I am rebuilding a 1955 Clipper 352 V8, have been trying to find crankshaft main bearings .010" oversize. Neither Kanter nor Max Merritt have these in stock. Does anybody know another source for these? (Crankshaft is not turned yet, I could use any oversize from .001" to .010")

0.010" oversize mains (and rods) have been hard to find for at least the last 15 years, if not longer and I don't believe these were ever remanufactured so all you've got to pick from is any residual NOS and NORS supply. It was about 15 years ago I decided to pick up and set aside for future use a set of 0.020" oversize rods and mains for my 374 V8 and even then I had a somewhat difficult time sourcing them. Last time I talked to Kanters 0.001" and maybe 0.002 were still available. You might shop around and see if you can find them in "semi" which you could have finished to whatever size you wanted.

If you do find them, please let us know where!

Checked with Kanter yesterday. The only main bearing (over)size they have available is .030".
