1940 Custom "180" high speed gears

Post by Packard1807 » Tue Sep 17, 2019 6:00 pm

My 1940 Custom "180" was a city car, so the original owners ordered it without overdrive. Does anyone know a source for high speed ring and pinion gears for this model? Alternatively, what is a good source for everything that would be needed to add overdrive? Thanks!

You might check your rear ratio, if 3.92, you already have the best ratio possible. As for anything lower, not available. There was chatter a few years ago about 3.54's being made, but that source had died. As for an overdrive setup, I can supply everything...about 2500 depending on details.

Does "everything" include the electrical, transmission, drive shaft, and indicator switch on the dash? I've already had the car wired for overdrive.
