Distributed 35 120 dual point interchange

Post by MichaelF350 » Fri Dec 27, 2019 8:07 pm

Which single point distributer will interchange with my dual point model? Pertronix says their unit will not work on my dual point Any comments or ideas? Mike

I don't know why Petronix wouldn't work unless it has something to do with the fact that your distributor is mechanical, not vacuum advance. To answer your question, 1937 and later 120 distributors will nearly interchange, problem is, you need to change the gear on your oil pump to the thicker distributor drive "shim". Not a big problem, I'd be happy to give you one if you want to buy a later distributor to go with it....I've got a couple 38-39 120 distributors, etc.

Thanks for the great information and offer. I'm still thinking about what I want to do. The dual point on my car only has four lobes so I think that might be the issue for the pertronix. Thanks, I'll get back to you. Its been a very slow winter and I've not had much chance to work on it with the terrible cold here in the Mid-West.
