1935 1207 engine block casting date

Post by 1935Packard » Tue Jul 03, 2018 1:38 am

My '35 1207 has engine serial number 903737, and I was trying to decipher the writing on the side of the engine block that I am guessing is a casting date. Here it is:

Is that a casting date, and if so, what is it? Does 30 35 mean the 30th week of 1935? Dave, hoping you might be able to weigh in given all your expertise on this. Thanks!

Interesting! I've not had occasion to take note of casting dates on Twelves, on the other engines it was month/day/year so if Packard actually did the casting of the Twelve blocks it would seem strange if they used a different convention. I'll start inquiring of a few local friends with Twelves. Thanks for an interesting question.
