Production date '38 1608

Post by Bluedevil » Tue Dec 10, 2019 12:05 pm

I found a car similar to mine and within 4 cars. They said that they found a production date of July 30, 1937 written on a panel behind the rear seat.

My question is could a '38 be produced that early?

Seems to me that with an introduction date of September 20, 1937, a production date in July wouldn't be out of line for an early serial number... but I don't know for sure.

JD,

Very good point that I hadn't considered.

Thanks

I have been going over the engine. I clean them by hand so I don't miss any details like cracks, production dates, paint colors, etc.

I found 2 casting dates that would put it into a much later date than July.

Front timing cover 8-13-37
Oil Pan 8-23-37

Ok additional date.

Block 9-27-37, now it could be an 8 but it would be upside down with the large circle on top and the smaller one on the bottom
