Papers for a 1941 car

Post by Olivierdejong » Wed Feb 26, 2020 3:28 am

Hello.

A member of the Belgian club is having a problem registering his car here in Belgium.
Everything is ok but the registration administration asks for a title from the production company (Packard) proving that the car was well built and first registered in 1941.
Problem, the car comes from a state where no such title is delivered.

It is a 120 1941 saloon, body number is 1492-11602, exported to Europe in 1979 october the 6th, but never registered. number stamped on the body firewall is 596409.

Do you have any idea on how to solve this?
Thank you in advance.

Best regards.

Doesn't seem that you have any options other than explaining to your licensing officials that the car was first delivered in a "non-title" state. Perhaps you might succeed in getting a letter to that effect from the state's licensing office to support your position.

Ok thank you.
The state is Massachusetts with 01879 code.
In case it means something.

For the suggested letter from the local authorities, which would you suggest?

Best regards.

Some years ago we could register a car with similar papers missing with this piece.
Could the Packard club US provide us with a similar piece?

Best regards.

You might contact the club President and ask what help the club might offer.

Or another possibility. Go back to the main menu and click on "Club Info" left side of screen, then scroll down to President and click on "President" or whoever to open up an email link. Whether they'll respond to a non-member is another matter altogether.
