Huntington Park, California

Post by chpackard » Sat Dec 08, 2018 10:11 am

While searching for photos/info about a 1990s restaurant called the Packard Grill all that I could find was this newspaper restaurant review of it: ... kard-grill . The location was a few miles north of downtown Los Angeles.

Here's the interesting part quoted from the review:
"Why the Packard auto motif? 'Because this was a Packard agency,' says owner Bob Richman, a onetime automobile dealer who bought the lot from his partner, William Noll, back in the '60s. 'And I liked the way the original building looked.' The restaurant is in the car showroom built by Noll in 1938; the mini-mall is a conversion of the service bays. Richman's restaurant restoration won an award from the Highland Park Heritage Trust, a rarity for a commercial building."

Link to current google street view image of the location: .
Although now a dental office, it still has a '41 Packard front clip on the roof.

Can anyone add anything to this story?

The image shown in the Packard Info link is not the same location or building as far as I know. I'll have to go back and check my records, but the Noll Packard dealership in the image is/was a building on Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena, CA... quite a distance away.

Yes, I knew about the Packard Grille.

Here are some images of the Noll Auto Company as it was in 1941. In 1956, Noll Auto took over the dealership on Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena (the former Morgan Motors, as pictured on that 1956 color card).
