As far as cost is concerned, be thankful you didn't have to turn the main bearing journals on the crankshaft, that is VERY expensive because you have to mill out the retaining bolts for the counterweights and remove the weights before you can turn the main bearing journals. And of course reassemble the counterweights after with special bolts, and of course rebalance the assembly. Not many crankshaft shops that are qualified to do this. A thorough rebuild on the 320/385 engines, including engine accessories like starter, generator, water and oil pumps, manifolds reporcelainized, nickel plating the lines and linkages, and other cosmetics and the like can run $30,000.

Looking good! And thanks for keeping us informed, having rebuilt a number of these engines over the years I follow with interest.

The valve shaft lever housings should be painted in aluminum paint, not engine green.
