1952 200 Deluxe 4 DR project

I bought this 2 years ago with the intent on doing a full restoration. I soon found out how costly this would be even if I did all of the work myself. I have since decided to make this a driver (not daily). With the help of Dave Czirr, Howard, and Tinman, I got the car to run properly. The engine wasn't too bad, but I had no idea about the tranny. I used to be a tranny guy, but never have worked on an Ultramatic single speed. I took the car for the longest ride to date today and it ran good. I am getting used to the single speed tranny, but thanks to the afore mentioned people I was able to do a tranny service on it and to adjust it and get it to function properly.
Next thing will be to tackle the body. I don't think I will do a frame off on this as I think I can cut and install with out separating the two. I have already detailed the engine compartment. I will post pictures.

The body was worse than I thought. I will have to purchase the front floor pans, and inner and outer rockers. The corner mounts I will make here. The trunk floor was great along with the rear floor pans. My plan is to do the body work and get it ready to paint. Paint it, then do the rubber kit, windows, and last, the Upholstery. The upholstery will by far be the most expensive part of this project.

Great work so far!

You might consider running the car as it is for a while. A genuine 'survivor' can be very attractive and draw lots of interest. The floors need attention, of course, but probably not insurmountable.

Keep us posted with your progress, and use of the car. How far have you driven it?

I am trying to get all of the interior metal work done before it gets too cold. Usually by now it's already too cold here in Nebraska, but we have had a very mild latter fall here. The next 4-5 days are supposed to be very mild. I have done the driver's side and will try to finish the passenger's side-front floor pan only! I will post pictures in the next week or two. The metal work on the outside will have to wait till spring unless we get a very mild week here.

Have been working on the 200 Deluxe off and on this year. I will post pictures as soon as I can. The entire body is primered and the major areas of repair/replace have been done. There are still a few areas that I need to do a better job of blending/transitioning to the original body. When I replaced the rockers (outer and inner), I welded one side and glued the other. As near as I can tell the glue is far superior as long as you don't have to do heavy grinding that will heat up the metal and melt the glue. I did take the car out on the interstate and got it up to 65 mph. It smoked before I did that. After that it won't smoke even when first started. It still has a lifter noise after it drives for a while, but the oil pressure is good. I got the vacuum wipers to work by lubricating the cables and wheels. They work fine now. I will post pictures soon.

I had the body in primer and ready to paint when my neighbors 100' tall tree fell about this time last year and took out my garage, machine shop, my Packard, and my 65 Plymouth Fury-30 minutes earlier and I would have been gone as well! Here are the pictures. I have Hegarty Insurance. They were great. They totalled out both cars. I kept them to possibly rebuild. The roof on both were caved in almost to the seats and the hoods were also caved. I was able to get both roofs and both hoods back up at least. I think I may rebuild both. Anyone know where I can find a windshield? That is my main stumbling point.
