I believe this is a Packard but I am unsure. The photo was taken in the 1920's in Chicago by my ancestors.

Doesn't appear to be a Packard. But someone else may know what it is. If not you could try posting your photo on the AACA Website in the What Is It? Forum.

I agree with Mal, doesn't appear to be a Packard.

Looking at the shutters on the grille, I'm thinking it is a Franklin. They run horizontal, which I believe is how Franklin was. Also, note the ornament on the grille top. It is out of focus, but looks like the one Franklin used. What do you think?

It is a 1928 or 1929 Hudson

That's a Hudson, not a Packard and not a Franklin. Franklins were air cooled and on the ones that had upright "radiators," the radiator was a fake honeycomb pressing (since they were air cooled a radiator was not needed and was only there to please a public that expected such things). Packards are always pretty easy to tell by the ox-yoke design that was on the top of the radiator or grille... right up to the very last postwar Detroit cars made.
