Just a guess but if you're sure it's British it has some lines reminiscent of Tickford.

Hi Colin

In those years, the most active combination of American chassis and English coachbuilt bodies were Hudsons and Terraplanes, as well as the Railton and Brough Superior makes being the best known English companies that sold under their own name. Small numbers of Packards, both 120 and Eights, were built.

Referring to my Hudson resources, Tickford, as Dave cites, was but one that built that style four place drophead coupe. Others were Coachcraft, Ltd, Salmsons & Sons, Ranalah. Typically, no external coachbuilder plate were displayed as was American practice. The coachbuilder names are always embossed on the door sill plate, exposed upon opening the door.

This is certainly a highly-desirable '36 120, if you investigate it further, please share your findings. It would be a worthwhile Packard to acquire and restore.

As you say in your country, Cheers!

Steve

Hi

I've owned the car for about 3 weeks now, busy trying to track down the history. So far I've managed to track it back to the 1960's. It came out of a barn in 2006, having been there for about 40 years, but it was in another barn before that. Sadly the chap that started to restore it passed away. Originally it was black and I believe it might be built by Coachcraft Ltd? Am now trying to track down original missing parts.

Thanks for everyones help.

Colin

Mal - perhaps you've nailed it! I had forgotten entirely about that post, and at the time Pennock was an entirely new name to me.

Update on my Packard.

Picked up a van load of parts for the Packard from the deceased's house. Found, in amongst the parts, the coach builders plates. Now know that it was built by Carlton Carriage Company. I'll keep you updated on the progress as I put it back together.

Great to hear you've established the body builder.

Don't forget to send some pictures when your done with the restoration, Carlton also did some fabulous bodies for Lagonda in the 1930's.

Some pictures of finished car (running boards are temporary as the original pictures show painted with chrome strips)

Just like to thank Dave Flack for all his help from start to finish on this car.
