Re: Is this Packard still around?
What an absolutely fascinating photo. Really nicely-executed coachwork on the Packard; judging by the rest of the photos in the array (also fascinating!), I'd guess the venue is Holland. First ever view for me of an Oldsmobile truck. And the acres of WW II trucks, planes and motorcycles awaiting scrapping. Thanks so much for posting!!
Re: Is this Packard still around?
I wonder if the bars alone were enough to support the weight of the conversion. The makeover looks like it might still be on the 127 chassis but it seems small compared to US hearses with their longer wheelbases. Unless it is just camera angle, the side louvers and rear wheel openings look closer to the front door than in a passenger car so I wonder how they shortened the quarter or if a senior front end was transplanted on a conventional or even another make chassis.

HH, I don't think it's camera angle as much as focal length of the lens, it's quite obviously shot from a distance away with a long focal length telephoto lens which foreshortens (compresses) the perspective.

There's also this Packard pic - https://www.flickr.com/photos/tuuur/683 ... /lightbox/
At least "I think" it's a bathtub Packard, and with the very rare suicide front doors option!

Although there are pic's of crashed vehicles, I don't how the comments about foreshortening perspective relate to this pic, almost looks like a crash!

Re: Is this Packard still around?
Winston Churchill gets in on the Packard act in these pic's.
Titled "Churchill in 1937 V12 Packard with Erdmann and Rossi open top....." - https://www.flickr.com/photos/tuuur/655 ... /lightbox/ looks like another 37(?) behind.
Same title - https://www.flickr.com/photos/tuuur/655 ... /lightbox/
EDIT Found another Churchill pic in the same Packard - https://www.flickr.com/photos/tuuur/704 ... /lightbox/
