I stopped by the shop earlier this week, just eye candy everywhere and I thought you'd find a few photographs interesting. Among the many projects, a gaggle of Pierce-Arrows, a '37(?) Cadillac V-16 Fleetwood limo getting ready for Pebble, '37 Packard Twelve limo, the 853 Horch, Delahaye by Figoni & Falashi (who else with all that flamboyance!), a Mercer, and more. The 4-cylinder engine is Mercer, and the 12-cylinder block is Auiburn. Hope you enjoy,

Mercer engine has BIG ports for the period, should breathe well. Also looks there's an exhaust manifold on the floor near it, and a straight 8 head near the V12 block. Are these Packard parts?

Huge valves in the Mercer engine as well.

I didn't give more than a casual glance at those parts but the manifold and head appear to be Packard.

I stopped down at the shop yesterday, mostly I wanted to talk with Steve about choices for new tires for my '34 as the current (Lester) tires, though they appear to be in excellent condition, are nearly 25 years old. While there I took a few photos which I hope you'll enjoy. The Packard is a 1910 Model 30, the Mercedes is a 1929 SS. The Chrysler is an Imperial.

It's been a while since I've updated. I was down at the shop yesterday and there was plenty to look at and photograph, in particular a 1940 Packard Darrin 4-door, a couple of Duesenbergs, 1936 Cadillac V16 roadster, etc. But what really caught my eye was the progress on the Horch 853 which I believe is an Erdmann & Rossi "Spezial". The intricacy and complexity of the structural wood framing and the skills to do it is just so special, and something you'll never see and be able to appreciate when the car the finished. Also some of the sheet metal development beginning to take shape.

Dave,

In the link below to a Hemmings article about The 2018 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance is a picture of a 1910 Packard Thirty Gentleman’s Runabout of Stephen and Susan Babinsky. Is this the same car you pictured on Page 3 of this thread?

Hi Mal:

No, not the same car as pictured on page 3 of this thread. But it is the same car pictured on the front cover of The Packard Cormorant, #163, 2nd Quarter 2016, photo by yours truly.
