4M-2500 blueprints
4M-2500 blueprints
Hi,
I would like to know if anyone has an idea how I can acquire/access 4M-2500 engine blueprints.
Specifically, I'd like to know the diametral pitches of all gears used in its construction.
Thanks!

I don't know what archives the U.S. Navy might have but that's certainly one place to start, though it's likely to be a slow process moving thru the machinery of government.
Another idea is you might contact Robert J. Neal, author of "Master Motor Builders" who devotes a detailed chapter to this engine in the book. Mr. Neal does drop in on this forum on occasion but you might do better to contact him thru his publisher:
Aero-Marine History Publishing Company

Did you have any luck finding prints of the engine?
I have reams of Navy and Packard maintenance and ops info, but no prints.
If I may ask, what are your plans once you have the gear data: reproduction reverse gear?

Mr. Neal will probably not reply due to health issues. His book, "Master Motor Builders", may still be available.
