1951 end-load utility-landau

One year ago I purchased a 51 Packard Henney hearse at a very reasonable price even for it's condition. Interior looks to be mostly all there but very dirty and weather damaged. Most of body is very solid needs rockers and floor in front. Vandals broke out rear window made holes in windshield and broke off a landau bar. Head has been off for 20+yrs because of broken valve(actually have head and broken valve top). After asking on the Packardinfo site I was told Henney model 5107 is 1951 end-load utility-landau original price $6810. Only 2 made? Any info is greatly appreciated. Brian

The information you received about your 5107 is correct. You might want to visit The Professional Car Society, they've published several articles on the Packard-Henneys. There is probably more interest in them in the PCS than in the Packard world though Henneys are often seen at Packard Club National meets. Exactly what kind of information are you seeking?

It's a rather small narrow niche market for these vehicles compared to their passenger car counterparts, but with lots of avid owners. Thomas A. McPherson who was written extensively on the Henneys for PCS is considered quite the authority, you might want to make contact with him.

I have seen a picture of that car but not the interior. Looks to be similar colors to what I have, sadly mine is in far worse condition. I suppose one aspect of having such a unique car is, not many people will be able to tell if something is not correct. If you have a very common car everyone is an expert, no matter how nice someone will find fault. I do belong to a local car club and have been showing a late model sedan since '07 so I have experienced this first hand. There are not enough Packards of any kind around, you cannot be too critical of something you have never seen before. Just a thought on a cold Sunday. I will check out the PCS for more info.
