Packard battery cable sign

Post by genehouse » Mon Aug 06, 2012 10:08 am

I have an opportunity to buy a Packard Battery cable sign (see below) for about $150. does anyone know if this is about right for this sign and condition?

Tough question, what is the size, just guessing by pegboard holes at 10 x 20 inches, I purchased a 3 x 5 foot Atlantic gas station sign for 200, a lot depends on how bad you desire the sign.

I have been around antiques, collectors, and guys buying old signs for their man caves my WHOLE life and while I am new to the "Packard" scene I am quite sure that I have never seen a sign like that in ANY condition, that one looks real decent, I would offer $130 but cough up the $150 if you have to. Just my opinion.

I bought this Packard Cable display sign off of eBay a couple of years ago at about one-half the price you are talking about.

Yes, this is a Packard-Electric sign. Marketed in several varieties of shop & dealer displays. P-Electric got sold
to GM and Packard-Delco was born. A lot of GM stuff operated on the P-Delco wiring cableing. I have one sign
something like the illustrated one & I think it was worth in the $50-75 range, but wasnt in quite as nice a shape
as that one. Its worth whatever you think is proper in value to you. If you cant live outwith it ;try the offer $130
approach. I suspect that you may see others either on ebay or in antique/collectible malls--but the prices may really
vary a lot. (High quality brings better prices).
