1939 Limo - dual sidemounts

Post by ssski53 » Sun Aug 18, 2019 7:25 pm

Looking to purchase a 1939 Packard 1705 Limo and it has the dual side mount spares, but they have a solid side instead of the wheel/hubcap showing - is this authentic or aftermarket.

Thanks!

One of two things, either 1940 covers or Henney covers. The Henney covers are distinct in the chrome hinge that the cover swings from, while the 1940 Packard covers came completely off the car.

Appreciate the information. I would believe that this would not hurt the authenticity of the vehicle.

I don't know that I agree with you. I'd think that incorrect and highly visible parts such as those covers would detract from the car when they are incorrect. Wrong parts is wrong parts, as they say. Fortunately easily corrected if the correct covers are found.

Appreciate the response. Ends up the car represented is a 1940 Packard, but the scammer has it listed as a 1939. Presently law enforcement is trying to track down the seller as it appears it is not even owned by the person trying to sell it.
