The 2372 body is built on the 2302 chassis. According to the specifications in the May 1,1949 Service Counselor the 643-SA is correct. The 23rd series was introduced mid 1949 and with the exception of a -5- in the middle of the vehicle number denoting that car was made for the 50 model year it was mechanically identical to the 1949 designated 23rd series. There may have been a tweak or two to a setting from the initial production specs if a drivability problem was found but they would be relatively minor and most likely detailed in a service bulletin or counselor article. If you wanted more information you could go to www.packardinfo.com and by choosing the 48-50 category in the Packard Service Index do a search of the literature section for any relative service bulletins.

As Howard points out, model for model a 23rd series 1949 Packard is essentially identical to a 1950 Packard with the exception of a single digit inserted into the vehicle number.
