Engine options

I’ve noticed two 1948 Supers on the internet with 356 engines. Was this an optional engine or were the 327’s most likely replaced?

The 356 engine was never an option for a lesser model, it defined the top-of-the-line model (the Custom 8). Are you sure it's a 356 engine and not just a 356 cylinder head on a 327? You might check the motor number.

I don’t know if it’s just the number on the head, but as you, I think it most probable is. There are two 1948 Super’s advertised as having 356’s. I couldn’t find anything that stated that a 356 was an option.
