An NOS filter would be OK for a static display car, but would be potentially damaging to the engine if actually used. As a 55+ year owner/driver of a '34 Eight, I've heard of more than one engine damaged by NOS L-6 filters where the paper media had deteriorated over time and turned to mush, plugging the oil cooler core or worse, oil passages in the crankcase. I'd never take a chance with one.

Buy a reproduction, they look just like the original and work better. I think John Cislak and maybe others make them.

As Burr Ripley has discontinued his unit, the only current source for a repro L-6 (or L-8) that I'm aware of it R&A Engineering.
