36th Annual Texas Packard Meet

Post by JWL115C » Tue Aug 28, 2012 8:19 am

The 36th Annual Texas Packard Meet will be held in Salado April 4-7, 2013. This is the oldest regional Packard meet in the country and possibly the largest. Last year 101 master registrations resulted in over 200 participants and 55 Packards. Packard lovers came from all over Texas plus eight other states. The meet features an early bird tour, all Packard swap meet, seminars, national directors meeting, people's choice competition, banquet, and awards program. The meet hotel is the Stagecoach Inn on Interstate 35 in Salado which is approximately 50 miles north of Austin. For more information go to Texas Packard Meet.com or call the meet registrar, Beverly Clark, at 210 922 1300. The meet is sponsored by the Texas Packard Association which is composed of the four Texas Packard Club regions.

The 36th Annual Texas Packar Meet was a great success. We had over 100 master registrations. A master registration could be an individual, a couple, or a family. Probably about 130 people attending. There were about 65 Packards registered. The number of people and Packards was a new record high. Approximately 25 Packards participated in the Early Bird Tour on Friday morning. We drove about 100 miles through the Central Texas area, stopping in Rogers for a rest break and in Cameron for lunch.

Many photos and stories about the meet have been posted on the Packard Information website (www.PackardInformation.com). The photos and stories are easy to access from the Home Page: Main Menu to Packard Photo Archive to Car Shows and Pictures; and Packard Forums to Shows and Events to 36th Annual Texas Packard Meet.

At the Sunday morning organizational meeting it was decided to have an award in memory of Jim Hollingsworth. Jim enjoyed driving his Packards and put many miles on them over the years. Starting with the 2014 Meet, the driver of a Packard driven the longest distance to the Meet will be given a beautiful engraved polished stainless steel trophy bowl.

Enjoy the photos and stories.
